Scorpions have eights legs with a pair of pinchers that are used to catch their prey crush them and then sting them. The venomous sting is to help kill the prey and used as a defense to protect itself from predators. Scorpions are in the class of arachnids that feed on other insects. They are also fluorescent under a black light and glow a blueish green color.

Scorpions like to hide in areas where the night lights attract insects. They detect insects by hairs and capture them with their claws. They prefer temperatures from mid 50 – 100+F but keep in mind they also can withstand below freezing temperatures.

Common areas to find scorpions are under rocks, logs, stacked materials, and ledges.
