Rodents are mammals that are characterized mostly by their growing teeth. The common ones we think of are mice (house mouse), and rats (Roof rat, Norway rat). Both mice and rats are common invaders into structures.

They generally find water sources in areas such as dripping water faucets, a/c attic drip pans, water heater drip pans, and dripping spigots. They also find food in garbage cans, fruit trees, bird feeders, kitchen panties, and feed storage.

They cause damage by chewing up items to create a nest which then leads to damages in one's structure like gnawing through water pipes in attics creating leaks, chewing through wires creating that then create a fire hazard, and contamination of food. 

 

Rodents can cause health risk to people by spreading pathogens and bacteria either by touching areas, direct contact, urine or waste, or having particles circulate when cleaning rodent nest. Not to forget that it can be spread by a single rodent bite.
